Title: Meisner Teacher Training Part II
I request support to attend Part II of the True Acting Institute's training in the Meisner Acting Technique, July 2015, to complete certification as a teacher of this technique. The Meisner approach is a staple of American actor training, and as such, an approach that the Department of Theatre, Actor Training Program wants to include in the curriculum. Faculty advanced training is supported by the mission of the Department of Theatre and promotes quality teaching.
I received a Dee Council Grant to support my attending the True Acting Institute Meisner Teacher Training - Part II, in Salem, Oregon, summer 2015. (I self-funded The True Acting Institute Meisner Teacher Training - Part I, summer 2014.) The Dee Grant supplemented the $3,500 grant I received from the Teaching Committee. Included in the training was two weeks of class work and scene study, three sessions daily, Monday through Saturday, which resulted in my being awarded a Certificate in the Teaching of the Meisner Acting Technique. The trainer and students were in full-time residence during this time.
