Title: Landscapes in China: Image, Text, and Environment

This proposal seeks funds to invite three speakers (to be announced) to the University of Utah to lecture on the intersections of visual images, poetic expression, and environmental history found in Chinese landscape painting. These speakers will complement a new interdisciplinary curricular project developed by Professors Winston Kyan (Art and Art History), Janet Theiss (History), and Fusheng Wu (Languages and Literature) that explores Chinese landscape paintings through the overlapping contexts of image, text and environment.
