Title: Speaker Series to Launch Nahua Studies at the University of Utah

This proposal seeks funding for three guest speakers to “launch” Nahua Studies on campus.  Next year, the Department of Languages and Literature will offer a two-semester pilot program in instruction in Nahuatl, an important indigenous language of Mexico.  To build knowledge of and interest in the courses, the Latin American Studies program proposes to present a lecture series to be held in association with an exhibit of facsimiles of Mesoamerican codices held by the Marriott Library.
